Welcome to the 2012 Season

There have been 11 series sweeps so far in the Majors involving 17 of the 30 teams. Oddities include Yankees and Red Sox both being swept in their opening series. There is a clear momentum shift with the Rays and Tigers flexing their muscle.

Miami Marlins record first ever sweep in their new Marlins Ballpark sweeping the hapless Chicago Cubs 3-0. It looks like Theo Epstein got out of Beantown just in time.  Bobby V's living on Tums. Lost to Yankees after having a 8 run lead in the 6th.  NYY scores 7 in the 7th and 8th.  Where's Papelbon?

Twins were swept by Orioles and then Rangers in consecutive series.  M&M boys did better in NY though.

We are also putting the finishing touches on our sister website seriesweep.com.  A labor of love started in 1998!  It is planned to be a central clearing house for information on historic and current series sweeps in all sports. Initially we will concentrate on major league baseball. We believe you'll enjoy the standings, sweep factor analysis and our new Series Sweep "Heat Map", a novel way of displaying current season results.
