Season's last week sees 3 sweeps

While the Mets blew a record seven game NL East lead in only 17 games by going 5 and 12, the Phillies clinched the division by winning 13 of 17. Then the Padres folded again to allow the Rockies to tie them for the NL West lead. A one game playoff will be played in Colorado today.

On September 27, the Astros swept the Reds.

On the 30th, the last regular season games were played with the Mariners sweeping the Rangers, who had swept the Angels in their previous series.

The Cardinals swept the Pirates to complete a disappointing season for St. Louis.
