We're Baaaack!!!

Somehow your humble reporter of major league baseball series sweeps blinked and missed the last two seasons!

But joy has returned to Mudville and we are proud to report the new 2010 major league baseball season has produced its first series sweep. The San Francisco Giants followed a strong spring training Cactus League performance with a 3 to zip sweep of the Houston Astros on Wednesday April 7th.

The Giants' performance was impressive featuring strong pitching performances from starters Tim Lincecum in the season opener and Barry Zito in game two with a powerful offensive show in game 3 to complete the sweep of the Astros with 19 hits.

The Giants' hot start continued in their home game opener extra inning win. Aaron Rowland singled home Juan Uribe with winning run in the style of the 1959 Go Go Chicago White Sox. Uribe had walked, stole second, and went to third on a passed ball.
